X Faces Global Outage: Users Report Widespread Access Issues**

Billionaire CEO Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, suffered a global outage on Saturday, 24 May 2025, with users worldwide unable to access the app or website.

According to Downdetector, an industry outage tracker, reports of disruptions surged to 2,212 by 6:20 p.m. (IST) on the same day. In India, 49% of complaints were related to the X app, while 30% involved login difficulties. Another 21% of users reported issues accessing the official website.

The Reuters news agency noted over 25,000 global incidents linked to the platform’s malfunction. Downdetector compiles outage data from multiple sources to track such disruptions.

X’s engineering team acknowledged the problem, stating that lingering issues from Friday (23 May) were still affecting services. Login and signup functions remained unstable for some, with delays in notifications and premium features.

X’s developer platform had earlier described the disruption as “degraded performance” and confirmed an ongoing investigation.

“X is aware that some users are experiencing performance issues today. We are dealing with a data center outage, and our team is actively working to resolve it,” read an official statement cited by The Indian Express*.
